Women in STEM

STEM is an approach to learn the connection between standards, assessments, and lesson design or implementation. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. It helps focus, see the details, active research, and intentional teaching, application, presentation of the solution, and give feedback for the process and skills.

The gender gap in STEM is larger than in other areas, while in bachelor´s degrees in psychology, etc, there is 54%, and in STEM is between 18% and 42%. And only 15% of direct science and engineering jobs are held by women.

This gender gap is due to the lack of role models, sexism in STEM departments, and in the workplace. Some actions that people are taking to get more women in STEM is highlighting women scientist, engaging young girls, and fighting sexism in STEM.
